The ‘Long Course Weekend’ is well underway in Tenby, Pembrokeshire this weekend and the town is absolutely buzzing with athletes and supporters!
We thought we’d share a few fab pictures of The Wales Swim which took place last night on Tenby’s North Beach – the atmosphere was fantastic, the sun was shining and all the athletes did amazingly well.
A particularly noteworthy achievement is that of local duo Nicky Rees and Gareth Scotcher, known as the ‘Iron Beaver’. 10 years ago Gareth was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease but he won’t let that stop him – last night Gareth and Nicky started with a 2.4 mile swim in Tenby and they are currently undertaking a gruelling 112m bike ride around Pembrokeshire. This will be followed tomorrow with a full marathon – an absolutely amazing feat!
Tenby was also delighted that local athlete Oliver Simon finished in second place – a great achievement and a lovely boost for the Tenby crowd!
