For the last two years Ironman Wales has been an absolutely fantastic weekend in Tenby and Pembrokeshire – September 8th 2013 certainly didn’t disappoint! With a 2.4 mile swim off Tenby’s North Beach, a 112 mile cycle ride around the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park and finally a 26.2 mile marathon around Tenby Town, it really is no mean feat.
More than 1500 athletes took part in the amazing challenge and Pembrokeshire even broke a record! With more than 90 local athletes taking part, this is the highest number of local athletes ever to have taken part in any Ironman event in the world.
The overall winner was Scottish Scott Neyedli with British Lucy Gossage coming in first for the women – a fantastic result for the UK!
Well done to all you fantastic people of Pembrokeshire, and a huge shout out to every single person who volunteered and supported on the day.
The other great news is Tenby has secured Ironman Wales for at least another year so we have even more fantastic Ironman action to look forward to in September 2014!
