Test your limits with some Pembrokeshire coasteering23rd June 2018
Hit the coast with Jump Bros Coasteering
In this edition of the Celtic Haven Resort’s reviews of the county’s unique attractions, we took the chance to speak to Andy Gloves of Jump Bros Coasteering – a water sports company delivering action-packed days out on the Pembrokeshire coast.
While traditional water sports such as surfing and body boarding remain ever popular, the growth in the number of people taking up coasteering has been exponential over the past few years.
A test of your bravery, mental and physical fortitude – coasteering pits you against the elements as you leap from cliffs up to ten metres high, scramble over rocks, traverse sea level and swim or boat between locations.
Part of the sport’s popularity derives from its intrinsically diverse nature, with the changing of the tides and elements meaning that a spot that is a choppy body of water on one day could be a sea of blue tranquility on another.
Though coasteering is largely associated with displays of bravery and testing your physical capabilities, the activity also affords participants with the opportunity to get at one with nature and spot wildlife from a unique vantage point as they explore little coastal gems that would otherwise be inaccessible.
With over 180 miles of coastline, Pembrokeshire is one of the leading locations for a variety of water sport activities.
Jump Bros Coasteering, who also deliver snorkeling and bodysurfing, has carved a strong reputation as an excellent adventure activities provider.
“Pembrokeshire’s diverse coastline is a perfect spot for adventure”
Based in Manorbier – and less than five minutes’ drive from the resort – they deliver a host of great days out for a variety of groups coming to explore the treasures of our county, including families, stag dos, hen parties and youth groups.
As instructor Andy Groves explains: “Coasteering is a great way to explore the stunning countryside from a whole new perspective.
“Pembrokeshire’s diverse coastline is a perfect spot for adventure as you surround yourself with the clean salt water of the Atlantic and get a fantastic adrenaline rush!
“Everyone has different limits and competency levels, but the diversity of the coast means that we’re always able to tailor the day to the group.”
“Come the end of the day and the end of the activities, you’ll have a real sense of achievement knowing that you’ve pushed yourself to your limits whilst exploring the beautiful rugged coastline of our beautiful county.”
With summer coming around the corner, a day with the Jump Bros is the perfect opportunity for you to see Pembrokeshire at its glorious best.
Here’s what you can expect from a day coasteering in Pembrokeshire!
“Great time this morning. My initially nervous nine year old is thrilled with everything she has achieved with encouragement of Ollie the instructor. At the other end of the scale my old Dad (70) had a fantastic time too.”
“Oli is a legend, great bants and great facts. Always up for a high jump. Photo taking skills are on point. See you soon for the snorkel safari.”
“We had a brilliant session today with my three grandchildren ages 9, 11 and 12. Ollie and Andy were very patient and reassuring and encouraging to our initially anxious 9-year-old who really enjoyed the experience. Go for it!
“We had a great weekend coasteering and snorkelling with Ollie and Andy. We went coasteering on Saturday and weren’t quite sure what we were letting ourselves in for.
“Everyone loved it though. The session was a perfect mix of climbing, jumping and exploring. Ollie and Andy ensured everyone felt safe and comfortable with everything we did.
“Some of us enjoyed it so much we went out snorkelling on Sunday with Ollie. This was another amazing but slightly more relaxing experience!
“Ollie had snorkel masks that cover your whole face and are far better than anything have used before. His enthusiasm and knowledge of the local area and environment really made the trip.”
